The problem

Why a person should drive the scroll

Fixed auto-scroll never matches how you actually talk, so you race it or wait for it. Voice tracking follows the microphone, so on a live stage the scroll depends on the room's audio and on the reader staying with the script. The reliable way to run a prompter is the way studios have always done it: a person drives it. NextPrompt gives you that, in a browser, with the controls on one device and the reading screen on another.

Control on one device, read on another

Open a Display link on the screen you read from and a Control link on the device in your hand. Start, pause, speed up, and resize from one while the other shows nothing but clean scrolling text. Keep the control on your own phone, or pass it to someone backstage who runs the scroll for you. Either way, a person sets the pace, so it matches the room instead of a fixed speed.

How it works

Three steps to a live teleprompter

01

Add your script.

Paste it in or upload a .txt or .docx file. Set the size, width, and speed once and NextPrompt remembers them for that script.

02

Open it on your reading screen.

Send a Display link to the laptop, tablet, or monitor by your camera. It opens in any browser, no account needed.

03

Drive it from another device.

Control the scroll, speed, and start from your phone with a Control link, or hand that link to a helper. Every change syncs to the reading screen instantly.

Scripts and Events

Every script for the shoot, in one place

An Event holds all the Scripts for a session. A quarterly update Event might hold the opening, the numbers, the Q and A intro, and the close as separate Scripts, each with its own size and speed, each ready to prompt on its own. Switch between them and each one remembers exactly where you left it.

  • Multiple Scripts per Event
  • Per-Script size, width, and speed that auto-save as you tune them
  • Upload .txt and .docx, or paste straight in
  • Flip horizontal and vertical for use behind teleprompter glass

One link for the reading screen, one for control

Both links open in any modern browser with nothing to install and no account to create. Put the Display link on the screen your speaker reads from and keep the Control link on your phone, or hand it to a helper backstage. Password-protect either one.

FAQ

Questions

Does NextPrompt use voice tracking?

No. NextPrompt scrolls at a pace you or a helper set and adjust in real time, so the scroll follows the person, not a microphone. A person stays in control.

Can I control the prompter from a different device than the one I read from?

Yes. Open the Display link on your reading screen and the Control link on your phone, and they stay in sync in real time.

Do I need to install anything?

No. NextPrompt runs in any modern browser on any device. The reading screen and the control device both just open a link.

Does NextPrompt record video?

No. NextPrompt is a teleprompter, not a recorder. It scrolls your script on the screen you choose while you record with your own camera, phone, or software.

Can I use it with a teleprompter rig?

Yes. Flip the text horizontally or vertically to read it correctly through beam-splitter glass on a standard teleprompter rig.
